Meetings

One central aspect of the European Complement Network (ECN) is to provide a platform to discuss new concepts in the field of complement, to encourage exchange of ideas and scientists in the field of complement and beyond. The ECN organizes the European Meeting on Complement in Health and Disease (EMCHD) every second year in alternate places in Europe. While several European complement meetings had been organized before (see historical overview below), the first EMCHD was held in 1986 at Lake Balaton, in Hungary. Since 2005 the meeting has included an extensive Teaching Day aimed to give young scientists as well as scientists or clinicians who are new in this field a comprehensive and state of the art overview on the various timely topics on complement.
