European Complement PhD Mobility Grant
In 2026, the ECN offers one European Complement PhD mobility grant for PhD students who would like to receive some funding towards a stay abroad in another laboratory for at least one month. The grant is issued by the ECN board and is worth up to 3500 €.
Here are the rules that apply:
- Only ECN members are eligible to apply.
- The PhD thesis of the candidate must be on a complement topic and the student's research work "is" OR "has been" OR "will be" performed in Europe for at least one month.
- The grant amount is up to 3500 €. ECN will only reimburse actually occurred costs up to this amount, thus for a shorter (e.g., one month) stay the amount is less than the maximal grant amount and reasonable expenses (i.e., economy-class flights and reasonably priced accommodation) will be reimbursed.
- The following documents will be needed to certify your eligibility:
a) An abstract of 250 words detailing the plan of the project and describing the necessity of staying abroad (all eligible applications will be shortlisted by the ECN board according to abstract scoring).
b) A recommendation letter from the supervisor of the PhD thesis.
c) A recommendation letter from the potential academic host (specifying that the student will stay abroad in his/her lab for at least 1 full month under his/her supervision). - Your application has to be sent to Mihály Józsi (mihaly.jozsi@ttk.elte.hu) till the deadline of 15th July 2026.
